Your Own Words...

Our Generation
By Delaine R. • Albuquerque, NM • ©2009

Hearts torn out of our chest,
We try to forget about the rest,
Heads pounding, eyes swollen, cold hands,
The fear of falling with nowhere to land,
The product of our screaming negotiations,
Is when we have our sorrows inspiration,
Looking back at when life was easy,
When we were always happy and not needy,
The nights we would be in bed awake,
Walking around trying not to fake,
Building up the emotional walls,
Sitting in the corner feeling small,
From all the pain and suffering we've received,
From the times and places we've been deceived,
What more can our generation feel,
Life is a reality, and it's more real,
Drinking, drugs, smoking, sex and cutting,
It's not subtle, it's more than nothing,
Falling into Satan's fearful trap,
Only God's love can bring us back.

Stay tuned for more poetry from Delaine!

My Noose
By Hope G. • (Media Arts Collaborative Charter School) • ©2009

Why, why am I so very along,
I feel like  my soul will start to moan.
Reaching my hand to touch the rain,
Wind blows the earth's long mane.
Morning mist begins to show,
Yet my heart still feels so low.
Drops of water hit the wet ground,
The ants have gone into their mound.
Feeling so unwanted,
I am being haunted.
Loosen this noose so I can breathe,
So the demon inside can then leave.
I wear a coat but my heart is stil cold,
the sadness in my life has grown like mold.
Waiting, striving and wanting to live,
The world I live in can never give.
Me a reason to go and carry on,
So I cry in the rain on my front lawn.
What is this kind of voice that calls my name,
Is it my mind playing this sick game.
I need a savior to reach out a kind hand,
Bring me out of the darkness from which I stand.
And pull me into the light,
And rescue me so that I might.
Not have to have my heart for rent,
And I will no longer be rent.
Please, please I beg you to let me loose,
The darkness creeps up on my noose.
